I am a fine art photographer and art director in San Francisco.

I focus on cosmetics as a subject for their potential: not just potential for creative expression, but also potential for subversion.

I want to re-center the significance of makeup away from who it's for and more towards what it’s for. My work rejects the constraints and boundaries of conventional Western beauty standards, traditional femininity, and consumer desirability, stripping cosmetics of societal bias in favor of "tabula rasa": the makeup itself remains objective, the interpretation of its use—both in application and representation—is subjective. By removing broader commercial appeal from the dialogue around cosmetics, all that’s left is the personal, both for myself and the viewer.

I do not reject beauty as a whole. It is not my goal to antagonize, but to confront. I want to create indelible images that fascinate, exploring the tension between the exquisite and the grotesque; timeless images of impermanence in both the literal and figurative sense. My goal is to create a body of work that wholly favors authenticity in an industry built on artifice, rejecting conventionality and expectation in favor of ambiguity and disquiet.
